SEM and SEO

Google announced it would be providing $340 million in Google Ads credit for small and medium businesses. Here’s everything you need to know about this ad credit:

Eligibility

  • Active advertisers since January 2019

  • There is no action to be taken, Admatic will contact those who are eligible for these ad credits

Timing

  • Starting late May 2020, eligible advertisers will receive one ad credit allocation

  • The credit can be used throughout 2020 on any Google Ads channel – Search, Display and YouTube

Ad credit size

  • Google hasn’t given any specifics but the ad credit will vary based on past spend and where the account is set up

  • Admatic will notify you once the credit has been processed

Major shift in Google Shopping

Not only has Google responded to the COVID-19 crisis by giving out ad credit to SMBs, Google has also announced free listings into its Shopping results. Google Shopping search will be opened up to unpaid, organic listings. The offering to all merchants will boost Google’s appeal to both sellers and consumers and comes at an important time to support bricks and mortar retailers.

What does this mean?

  • Retailers get free exposure to millions of people who use Google for their shopping needs

  • Shoppers will have more options from more stores on the Google shopping tab

  • Advertisers with paid campaigns can now be augmented with free listings

How is this going to work?

  • Paid shopping ads will appear at the top and bottom of the page on the Google Shopping tab, with hints to future layout experiments in the future.

  • Free listings need to be uploaded onto Google Merchant Center, which powers the product data feed. Sellers must opt-in to “surfaces across Google” to be eligible for organic visibility.

  • Although Admatic does manage your feed directly, we’re always here to help so please reach out if you have any questions regarding this new announcement.
