Instagram’s New Feature for Creators to Earn Money
Meta offers more ways to help creators make money on Instagram with their new tools through their Instagram audience.
This subscription service will be available for all eligible US creators, along with introducing the tool to enable these creators to make and sell digital collectables.
Let’s dig a little deep into this new feature from Instagram.
Instagram Subscriptions
It was first launched in January as a test but has now available for all eligible creators in the US. In subscribing, the feature allows creators to offer their audiences exclusive content by having them on recurring monthly payments, giving creators another great way to earn income from Instagram.
So how does it work? Firstly, to see if you’re eligible for Instagram Subscriptions, open the Instagram app and go to your professional dashboard. If you’re eligible, you’ll see an option to set up subscriptions for your account. With this feature activated, you can start posting a handful of subscriber-only content like:
- Livestreams
- Stories
- Badges
- Posts
- Reels
- Group chats
- Broadcast channels
A great way to promote a subscription to your audience is through your Instagram story with a dedicated sticker, which is also the best way to engage. Once the user taps on this sticker, it will automatically bring them onto the subscription page of their choice.
On top of the exclusive content you get to offer your audience with this feature, the subscriber also earns a special badge next to their name for engaging with posts.
Instagram Gifts
Creators can now earn cash from their Reels Video with the newly introduced ‘Gifts’ feature, which is exactly what ‘Tiktok gifts’ is. Users can send digital gifts to Instagram creators to show appreciation and gratitude for their favourite Reels Video.
Gifts are paid in the form of ‘stars’ which will be purchased with real money by the users. When Instagram creators receive these ‘gifts’ they will earn a fraction of what the user that sends them has paid for. Gifts are currently in testing with a limited number of creators. But Instagram has yet to provide details about the revenue split and percentage for creators or show what the digital gifts would look like.
Instagram Digital Collectables (NFTs)
With the rise of NFT Instagram is launching a new way for creators to mint their own digital collectables and sell them to their audience. Creators can make their own digital collectables using toolkits and promote their digital collectibles on their profiles to sell to their audiences. Instagram is testing this feature with a small group of US creators and may expand to more countries soon.
